Mental Health Therapy by Video Telehealth
It finally seems we’re past the worst of Covid-19 but I don’t think anyone has escaped the toll the last few years have taken on people. Receiving mental health services as we knew it (in person) dramatically changed and no one escaped having to spend most of their time behind a screen every day. This was a difficult change for people and not seen as ideal perhaps, most people have become zoom experts and I personally believe that something good came from being forced into telehealth… it allowed so many more people to have access to therapy. There’s no commute time, parking issues, conflicts with work/child schedules are greatly decreased and you have a significantly larger choice of clinicians because it doesn’t matter if they are located close to your home or job. Telehealth is here to stay and the push to require insurance companies and state licensing bodies to make this a permanent choice for people is happening, though still pending.
Through a HIPAA compliant (confidential) digital platform we can still sit in the room together. The only thing that is different is we look at one another through a laptop screen or phone… and you’re in the comfort of your own home, office or even back yard if you like. Your pets can snuggle with you and say “hi” to Bear… they may even take over our screens every now and then and I’m okay with that!
With tele-therapy you can also have your drinks, snacks, comfort blankies and pets next to you while we comfortably connect and talk just as we would in my office. I’ve already been doing tele-therapy for quite some time before Covid and while it might sound or feel awkward at first, I’ve found all of my clients really enjoying and embracing it.
When the weather supports, you can take our session to a beautiful, quiet setting in a park; maybe bring your yoga mat, beach towel, or blanket and let nature’s scent and gentle breezes surround your senses and calm your nervous system. How about a walk on a forest trail, chilling on a fallen tree that is now a therapy nature chair, or sprawling out on a giant boulder along a creek?
All you need is your smartphone or laptop, ear buds and a small mobile charger with a few bars of WiFi coverage. Therapy can go anywhere and happen wherever you want to have an experience; we are not limited by the four walls of an office or building.
If you are located in the state of Colorado, Florida, Oregon or Washington State, I would love to connect and walk beside you as we create a journey of growth and healing.
